Pinckney was the second son of John D. and Edna E. Amberson, and named for his uncle Pinckney Alexander Westbrook.

Pink's first marriage was to Margaret Louisa Bailey, they were married February 20, 1877, Cherokee County, Alabama. Pink and Louisa's children were Charlie, Herbert, Janie and Ethel. Louisa died September 1889, she is buried at Lebanon.

Pinckney's next married was to Rosa Anna Decker on 19 Nov 1889 in Blount County, Alabama. Children of Pinkney and Rosanna were John, Jim, Josie, Will, Bessie, Dewey, Vera, Toy and Ross.

Grand Daddy was a Merchant and owned stores in Albertville, Alabama, Royal Alabama, and Oneonta Alabama. He was always self employed and taught his sons to do the same, leading to the boys working for themselves through out the years.

P.A. Amberson Dies in Birmingham

Funeral services for Pinkney A. Amberson, former resident of Oneonta, who died at his home in Birmingham Sunday, were held at the M.E. Church in Oneonta, Monday afternoon. Mr. Amberson was about 76 yeras of age and was a member of the M.E. Church.
For a number of years he was one of he leading merchants in this county, operating stores at Royal and at Hendricks.

The deceased is survived by his widow, six sons, J.P. Amberson, James M. Amberson, W.R. Amberson, D.C. Amberson and R.E. Amberson, all of Birmingham, and Herbert Amberson of McKinney, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. O.S. Allgood, of Boaz; Mrs. C.F. Harris, of Birmingham, and Mrs. H.C. Pritchett, of Gainesville, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. James Bullard, or Gadsden, and Mrs. Jiles Nelson, of Bangor.
