Mrs. John D. Amberson Dies at Home of E.C. Murphree
After living a long and useful life, Mrs. John D. Amberson died at the home of her son-in-law, E.C. Murphree, near Hendrick, on December 2nd.
Mrs. Amberson was one of the old landmarks of this county, having lived within a few miles of where she died for nearly half a century. Edna E. Amberson, nee Westbrook was born in Fayette County, Georgia, on Jaunuary 10, 1833. At the age of about seven years she moved with her parents to Cherokee County, Ala. where she resided until 1868 when she moved to this county.
On September 13, 1849, she was married to John D. Amberson who preceded her to the better world several years ago. To this union were born twelve children, five boys and five girls survive her.
Mrs. Amberson professed religion at the age of twelve years and lived a consistent christian life until the time of her death. She was a faithful member of the M.E. Church and was always found on the side of right and battling for the cause of Christ. The interment took place at Lebanon cemetery, near her old home, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. George Hullett and Rev. W. J. Wilemon.
