Margaret and James made 3 attempts to establish residency in Oklahoma, near Wister, but were defeated by Wilderness conditions and Family objections.
There is no date for the first attempt to move to Oklahoma, but the second trip was made in 1906, by covered wagon and returning in 1911. The trip took 30 days. Sarah Ramsey Bullard, James' mother, traveled with them and had her own private carriage and horse. It is believed her poor health was the cause of the return trip in 1911, for she died in July, 1911.
The third trip 1913- 1915 was made partly by train, but the conditions in Oklahoma were still very bad and they finally gave up. One son, James Thomas Bullard stayed and lived out his life there. (Submitted by Amby)
