Veteran of County From Point of Service, Succumbs In Chesterton Early Today.
HAD PRACTICE LAW 42 YEARS.

George R. Williams, age 76 years, one of the oldest attorneys in Porter county in point of service, died this morning at 2:30 o'clock at his home, 310 South Second street, Chesterton.

The veteran attorney, who had practiced in Chesterton for the last 42 years, had been in ill health for the last several months with a complication of diseases.

He was born on March 9, 1863, at North English, Ia., a son of John L. Williams and Nancy B. (McCracken) Williams, and come to Valparaiso in the early nineties to attend Valparaiso university, from which institution he graduated in law.

On Aug. 1, 1896, he was united in mariage [sic] at Fort Wayne, Ind., to Catherine Bonnifield, who died on Feb. 1, 1905. To this union were born three children, Miss Marguerite Williams, at home; Miss Mary Williams, of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Evangeline Jones, of Chicago.

On Sept. 147, 1912, he was married in Valparaiso to Clara E. Hoyt, who died on March 10, 1927. Three children were born to this union. They are John Clark Williams, at home; Frank Hoyt Williams, of Chesterton, and Miss Edith Williams, of Bloomington, Ind.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ida Ferris and Mrs. Martha Mullins, of North English, Ia., and Belle O'Brien, of Santa Monica, Calif.

Mr. Williams was a member of the First M. E. church of Chesterton; Mason lodge, Eastern Star, I. O. O. F., Rebekahs and Knights of Pythias.

Memorial services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First M. E. church in Chesterton, Rev. Henry F. Braun and Rev. C. A. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with C. H. Stinchfield, of Valparaiso, in charge.
