George G. Huisman, well known resident for almost a half century in the community north of Jewell, died at 10:40 Monday night of this week at his home in Kamrar where he had lived the past three years. Death resulted from an internal cancer following a sickness of about three months, having been hospitalized 15 days during the early part of his illness.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon of this week at 1:30 at the Presbyterian church east of Kamrar, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. Cramer. Serving as casket-bearers will be James S. Greenfield, Joe Trampel, Abel Middents, Elmer Van Langen, Henry Welp and George Wessels.

George G. Huisman was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Folkert Huisman. He was born in Grundy county, Iowa, July 15, 1885, and died February 14, 1949, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 29 days. He came to Hamilton county when 14 years old and has lived here ever since, engaged in farming until he retired and moved to town three years ago.

He was married in 1912 at Ackley, Iowa, to Tina De Vries, who preceded him in death. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Huisman of whom seven survive him: Fred Huisman of Mason City, Mrs. Arend Greenfield of Kamrar, Mrs. William Slippy of Ames, Benard Huisman of Jewell, Mrs. Clarence Olson of Ellsworth, Harley Huisman of Jewell and Mrs. Robert Nicks of Kamrar. He is survived also by 14 grandchildren and eight sisters and brothers: Klaus Huisman, Mrs. Henry Gray, Mrs. Arnold Gray and William Huisman, all of Titonka, Mrs. Gerit Naber of Lake Lillian, Minn., Mrs. Conard Heyer of Woden, Iowa, Meint Huisman of Litchfield, Minn., and Samuel Huisman of Hillsdale, Wis.
