Lawrence, age 89, passed away at Republic County Hospital in Belleville. He was born on a farm east of Cuba, Kansas, the son of Frank and Frances (Kopsa) Benyshek. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the European Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Ribbon, serving overseas in Africa and France. He married Dorothea Cibolski on May 10, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Raymond Benyshek, Ben Benyshek, Frances Rott, Leona Skocny, Blanche Splichal, and Viola Beneda. He is survived by his wife, his sons, Larry Benyshek and Terry Benyshek, his brother, Glen Benyshek, five grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral service were held at the funeral home memorial chapel. Burial was in Kopsa Cemetery in rural Cuba, with military graveside rites conducted by Cuba American Legion Post #345.
