Verna was born to Charles A. and Ava E. (Dunlap) Smith. She married Walter L. Lisman on Aug. 5, 1948, in Petrolia. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2008, in Metamora.
She also was preceded by two brothers and two sisters.
Verna is survived by her son, Gary L. (Cathy) Lisman of Bartonville; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Verna last worked for the Eagles grocery chain as a checker, retiring in 1991 after 15 years of service. Prior to that, she was a clerk for the W.T. Grant store for 13 years.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private inurnment of ashes will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
