Wilbur Shields, 76, of 112 Lynwood Ave. died July 15 at 4:50 p.m. in Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield.
He was born May 25, 1904, Wapello County to John and Almeda Lathrop Shields. He lived in Ottumwa for more than 53 years, and retired from Joh Deere Ottumwa Works in 1969 after 42 years' service.
He attended Davis Street Christian Church and was a member of Ottumwa Oddfellows Lodge 9, Myrah Rebekah Lodge 41 and Ottumwa Encampment 22. He married Mary A. Sweatt Sept. 15, 1926, in Ottumwa.
Survivors: his wife; a son, Eugene of Buena Park, Calif.; a daughter, Christina Moore of Cedar 'Rapids; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: pending at Johnson Funeral Chapel.

Services for Wilbur Shields, 76 of 112 Lynwood, who died July 15 will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Davis Street Christian Church, the Rev. Cecil Simonton officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery.

The casket will remain at Johnson Funeral Chapel until 9 a.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the church. An Oddfellows service will be held at the funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m. today.
