Genevieve R. Van Helden, 81, of Rice Lake died Nov. 29 at home. Funeral services were Friday morning at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie with the Rev. Dave Oberts officiating and burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Van Helden was born April 28, 1927 to Earl and Loretta (McGough) Bollman in Rice Lake. She graduated from Rice Lake High School and then worked for several years as a telephone operator. She married Francis Van Helden on June 23, 1951 in Dobie. She was town clerk of Oak Grove for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, feeding birds, and playing bingo.

She is survived two daughters, Julie Gruenhagen and Janet Putnam, both of Rice Lake; two sons, Gregory of Sheboygan Falls and Robert of Cameron; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mardelle Hickey of Oconto Falls and Shirley Krych of Blaine, Minn.; and a brother, Donald of Rice Lake.

Mrs. Van Helden's husband, Francis, died Dec. 4, 1994. Her son Allen also preceded her in death.
