Shakopee Argus 3 Apr 1914-Death of Mrs. Hubert Nyssen-At her home in this city at the age of 71 years, Mrs. Hubert Nyssen pased away on Sunday March 29th at 9:30 pm. The deceased had been in delicate health for several years past but was able to be up and around until ten days before her demise. The immediate cause of death was due to infirmities of old age. Mary C. Johnson was born in Weckway, Sweden, February 5, 1843. When fourteen years of age he emigrated to America with her brothers settling in Stillwater where she remained several years. She was married to Andrew Winker at St. Paul June 16, 1863, coming to Shakopee the same day and residing here continually for fifty one years. Mr. Winker died September 1, 1871. Four years after the death of her husband she was united in marriage to Hubert Nyssen, who survives besides the following children: Mrs. Mary Schlinker, Lawrence and Miss Ellen Winker, Mrs. Hubert Stans, Harry Nyssen of Shakopee and Mrs, Frank Ess of Chaska. Besides these she is mourned by a brother in Center City and a sister in Sweden. Funeral Services were held at the residence at 1:30pm, and at St. JOhn's Lutheran church at 2:30. Rev. Carl Ganschow was the officiating clergyman. The church was packed to utmost with sorrowing relatives and friends who came to pay their last respect to one who will be missed as a a kind mother, a good neighbor , and friend. The remains were conveyed to Valley Cemetery where internment took place. Those who came from distant points to be present at the funeral services were, August Peterson and son of Center City, Minn., Misses Emma Holmquits an Minnie Munson, John Harden and Mrs. H.C. Christensen of Minneapolis, Mrs. Charles Marx and Mrs. Frank Jasper of St. Paul Frank Cummings of Blue Earth, Miss Florence Schlinker of Elkton, SD. Messrs. and Mesdames Harry and Leo Stans, Mrs Catherine Stans, Mrs. G. Faber and daughter Miss Ida, Mrs. Florian Faber. Mrs. Giesen, Joe and Fred Ess, Mr. and Mrs. G. Buerline, Mr. and Mrs. A. Fink of Chaska, and numerous other friends.
