Dorothy Richmond Purvis, 82, of Milton, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 24, 1926, in Trimble County, Ky., the daughter of Henry and Retta Boldery Richmond. She was a housewife. She enjoyed gardening and raising her family, and the dances at the Senior Citizens Center in Madison. She attended the Norfork Holiness Church in her younger years.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Purvis, whom she married Nov. 4, 1944; two daughters, Charletta Mullins and Virginia Jackson, both of Carrollton, Ky.; two sisters, Virginia Burkhardt of Milton, Ky., and Catherine Satchwell of Lexington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Tony, R.V., James and Lawrence Richmond; and five sisters, Blanche Boldery, Thelma Raisor, Sylvia Handlon, Ruby Adams and Opal Handlon.

The funeral was at Wood-Oakley Funeral Home in Milton, Ky. Burial was in Moffett Cemetery.
