David Lawrence Hickman, 69, of Newport News. Virginia and formerly of Winnabow, died early Friday morning in the Portsmouth General Hospital, Portsmouth. Virginia.
Born at Winnabow, N. C. April 28, 1904, he was the son of the late Rev. G. T. and Mrs. Elizabeth Robbins Hickman.
Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Evelyn Dawn Frankel of Croton-On-Hudson, New York, two sons David Larry Hickman of Majuro Marshall Islands, and William Donald Hickman of Portsmouth, Virginia, three brothers, Floyd Hickman and G. R. Hickman. both of Winnabow and Bryson Hickman of Wilmington, two sisters, Mrs. H. L. Willetts, and Mrs. R. S. Willetts, Jr., both of Bolivia, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Mill Creek Baptist Church at Winnabow. Interment will follow in the Willetts Cemetery.
Visitation may be made at the Burke-Yopp Funeral Home until 1:45 p.m. Monday at which time the body will be carried to the church to lie in state for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive visitors at the Burke-Yopp Funeral Home Sunday between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Burke-Yopp Funeral Home in Wilmington.
