Mr. A J Harrington, Sr., Dies From Heart Attack
Mr. A J Harrington, Sr., a resident of Houston for many years, died Saturday afternoon at his home from a heart attack.
Mr. Harrington had been an invalid for more than ten years following a paralytic stroke. A week ago, however, he suffered a heart attack, since which time his condition was considered serious. He lived only a few minutes after being stricken Saturday.
Mr. Harrington was born seventy-three years ago near Houston. Forty-six year ago he was married to Miss Flora McElreath, to which union three sons were born.
For a number of years Mr. Harrington was engaged in farming and after moving to Houston, was connected with his wife in a mercantile business.
He had been a member of the Baptist Church for a number of years and , until his health failed, he was a regular attendant at its services.
Though of a quiet and reserved nature, he made many friends.
His funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from the Baptist Church, with Rev. W C Stewart, the pastor, officiating. Interment followed in the Houston cemetery. The pallbearers were young cousins of Mr. Harrington. They were: Aaron, Holly, Gus Pet, Travis and Irvin Harrington.
Besides Mrs. Harrington, Mr. Harrington leaves three sons, A J, Of Montpelier, A D and A C, of Houston.
