Adoniram was the son of Reverand Abel amd Sarah (Smith) Johnson.
He served in Company B, 101st Infantry Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers enlisting on August 15, 1862. The Civil War claimed the lives of his brothers Isaac and Abel.
Adoniram mustered out of service in the Union Army on June 24, 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mr. Johnson was united in marriage to Jane Klingel on Oct 22, 1868 in Wells, Indiana.
Surviving are his wife, sons George and Estel and daughter Mary, (Elijah Palmer Mossburg). Preceeding him in death were his parents, daughter Dona and Minnie and sons Charles and David.
