Yesterday morning at half past one o'clock Matthew McClure died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. JS Steele on W. College St. He was stricken with paralysis two years ago and since then had been confined to his bed nearly all the time. The funeral occurred this afternoon at the residence at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Wallace Tharp, of the Christian Church and Rev. HL Nave of the First Presbyterian Church. The services were in charge of the Masons and the remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. Matthew B McClure was born in Bath Co, Ky Jan 29, 1822. He came to this city to make his home 17 years ago and since the death of his wife 3 years ago had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. JS Steele. He was the father of 5 children, 4 of whom are living. They are: Joseph and Winfrey McClure of Bath Co Ky and Wallace McClure and Mrs. Steele of this city. Mr. McClure had been a member of the Christian Church 38 years and was a man who lived a life in strict accordance with his religious belief. He was a kind father and his children have the comforting thought left with them that he was ready and willing to go, having lived to the ripe old age of nearly 78 years. He was a bro. of DF McClure of this city and had long been a member of the Masons.
