Mary Virginia Pickler Hopkins
Mrs. Hopkins, 93, of 119 Lakenheath Lane, Matthews, NC, died Monday, October 13, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, at West Albemarle Baptist Church, Rev. Wiley I. Rutledge and Rev. Judson Lennon officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service.
Born in Stanly County, NC, October 12, 1910 to the late Daniel Milas and Annie Peck Pickler, she was a retired employee of Efird Manufacturing Co, a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church, and the wife of William Taft 'Bill' Hopkins, who preceded her in death in September of 1987. She loved reading magazines and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Calvin 'Buddy' Hopkins of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Ann H. Poplin of Matthews, NC; brother, Warren Pickler of New London, NC; sister, Cinda Pickler Coggin of New London, NC; 4 grandchildren, Bronwyn Poplin, Bonnie Wooten, Phillip Hopkins and Calvin Hopkins; and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorials are requested to West Albemarle Baptist Church, 336 Church Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
