An electrical storm last Tuesday afternoon, caused the death of Clayton Womack, 21 year old youth of the Gaars Mill Community.

Young Womack, who was working in the field, came in the house during the storm. His mother warned him to get out of the swing on the front porch when it was lightning, and to come in the house. Being wet with perspiration, he lathered his face and hands and stooped under a metal gutter to let the water wash the soap off his face. Lightning struck the house setting it on fire.
The water from the gutter conveyed the lightning to Womack's body, causing instant death. He was found in the stooped position. The lightning had struck him on the back of the neck, where the water was running on him and had gone down one side of his back to the ground.

Womack was an outstanding youth of his community. He graduated from the Gaars Mill High School this year. He took a leading part in all club work and organizations in his school and church. As a community leader he attended the 4-H Camp at Camp Mary Mims last week.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jack Womack, three sisters and five brothers. They are: Miss Lessie Womack, Mrs. Wickliff Gates, and Miss Johnnie Womack; Willie of Kilgore, Texas, Harrison of U.S. Navy, Loyd, Lonnie and Harley Womack of Gaars Mill. He was a nephew of Mrs. E. A. Spillers of Winnfield.

Funeral services were held at the Harmony Grove Church Wednesday afternoon. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attending the last sad rites.
