Lehi Hokanson, 78, of Thayne died Sunday, Jan 17, 1982.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan 19 in the Thayne, Wyoming LDS Stake Center under the direction of the Thayne LDS Ward bishopric. Burial was in the Thayne Cemetery.
Lehi was born Sept 18, 1903 in Thayne. He was the seventh child and second son in a family of eight, born to Hokan and Elizabeth Ann Michaelson Hokanson. He attended school in Thayne and at Star Valley High School in Afton.
On Oct 6, 1932 he married Virginia Miller in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Thayne and became parents of six children.
He helped build the Thayne LDS Ward Church and more recently the new Thayne LDS Stake Center. He was an active member of the LDS Church. In 1926 he served a LDS mission to Australia. He served in many church positions including president of the YMMIA, superintendent of the Sunday School, and counselor in the Thayne Ward bishopric. He and his wife Virginia served a mission in the Kentucky Louisville Mission.
He is survived by his wife Virginia of Thayne; sons Ronald Hokanson, Rexburg; Kenneth Hokanson, Thayne; Paul Hokanson, Afton; daughters, Mrs Steve (Laura Lee) Olsen, Logan; Teckla Schwab, Rexburg; Mrs Randall (Gwen) Draney, Seaside Ore; 30 grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Owen Hokanson, Thayne; sisters, Mrs Ernest (Mary Wolfley, Bedford; Mrs Lorin (Ruth) Roberts Etna; half-sisters, Mrs Glen (Nelle) Walker, Afton; Mrs Irwin (Delila) Dana, Green River, Wyo.
