Mrs. Thelma Wyrtis Bastin, aged 21, wife of James Bastin, of the Simpson Chapel neighborhood, north of Bloomington, died at 5 o'clock this morning at the Bloomington hospital. She had undergone an abdominal operation at the hospital Sunday.

Mrs. Bastin formerly lived at Smithville, and was a graduate of the high school there. She was a member of the Smithville Christian church.

In addition to the husband, she is survived by one daughter, Norma Jo, two years of age; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Litz; two sisters, Wyneta Litz and Frances Litz; one brother, Elmer Louis Litz, a half-brother, Carl Cantrell, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Harry Voyles and Mrs. John Nikirk. All of the relatives live in this county.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Smithville Christian church in charge of Rev. Frank Messersmith and interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery [sic].

The body will be taken from the hospital to the Day funeral home, and this afternoon was taken to the home of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Litz, Handy Ridge.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Wyrtis Bastin wife of James Bastin will be conducted from the Smithville Christian church at 2 p. m. Thursday by the Rev. Frank Messersmith.

Burial will be in the Clear Creek cemetery and pallbearers will be Hershel McGlothlin, Rufus McGlothlin, Harold Largent, Wayne Todd, William Robinson and David Krebbs. Honorary pallbearers are Lulu McGlothlin, Wilma McGlothlin, Lydia McGlothlin, Goldie O'Niel [sic], Georgia Chambers and Anna Mae Buskirk.

Mrs. Bastin, a resident of the Simpson Chapel neighborhood, north of the city, died at the Bloomington hospital, Tuesday morning, after having undergone a major operation on Sunday.
