Jean Weiler was one of 11 children born to Peter Weiler and Maria Berg. The Weiler family lived in Niedermendig, Kreis Mayen, near Koblenz. Jean was in the German army in WWI, and was captured and held prisoner by the Russians. Having survived this, he returned to Niedermendig, and there married Maria "Mia" Mueller. Jean and Mia had one daughter, Ilse, who married Andre Watrelot of France. Jean worked in Niedermendig in the stone quarry, and later in the Woelker brewery. He was also a member of the Rauch Klub (Smoking Club). He was survived by his daughter, one sister Anna Maria Weiler Aust, and one niece Rosa Maria Aust Losee. He was predeceased by his niece Elfriede Weiler Gemein, and siblings Elisabeth, Peter, Maria Magdalena, Therese, Katharina "Kate" Weiler Moll, August, Wilhelm Friedrich, Elisabeth Weiler Schulte, and Friedrich Weiler. He was buried in the Friedhof in Mendig beside his wife Mia.
