Sid & Lela were married in Carter Co, OK, probably in Ardmore. Their children, Bobby & Betty, were born in Ardmore.
In the summer of 1943 Sid moved to Salinas, Ca, with his family. Earlier that year his father had died in a truck accident while on his way to CA with his wife, several children, & their families. While there he was joined by his sister, Hazel, and brothers, Roy, Woodrow, and Cecil.
Several months later Sid and his brothers moved to Modesto. Hazel returned to Ardmore with her husband, where she lived the rest of her life. Cecil, who became ill, returned to OK, where he died in 1975.
A few months later Sid's mother, Lessie, his sister, Juanita, and brother, Herman, moved to Modesto. His mother died from a stroke in 1949, and her body was returned to Ardmore to be buried beside his father in Provence Cemetery.
Sid had a great sense of humor and always seemed to be happy. He was devoted to his family, which is said to be a Love characteristic.
Sid's signature is on my parent's marriage license. He was present when they were married in Ardmore on November 23, 1935. I will always remember him for giving me a unique nick name when I was a young girl, which is still used by a few family members.
