At an early age, he confessed to Christ under the pastorage of Rev. Johnny Scriffins and joined Mt. Ararat A.M.E. Church at Deovelente. There he served as a faithful member until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories; one son Samuel Wells, one daughter Mrs. Henriene Clay both of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law; nine grandchildren, seven great, grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Why do we mourn departed friends?
Or shake at death's alarm,
Tis but the voice of Jesus sends
To call him to his arms,
This is another soldier gone
To get a great reward,
He fought the fight, He kept the faith
And now has gone home to God.
