Mrs. Nellie M.E., wife of Charles E. Allen of Saco, died yesterday afternoon at 4:20 PM at her home on Lincoln Street. Mrs. Allen was taken ill about 4 weeks ago with inflamation of the bowel and from the first, recovery seemed doubtful although three doctors were in attendence.
Dr. Marbury of Saco was the family physician and Doctors Goodale of Saco and Bassford of Biddeford were called in consultation.
Mrs. Allen's maiden name was Nellie Sweetser, she being the only daughter of James and Almeda Sweetser of Saco. She was born in Saco , April 12, 1861, and so would have been 35 years old next Sunday.
She was a woman of estimable character and had a large number of friends. Besides her husband, a mother and 4 children survive her, two sons and two daughters, Flora, Chrystie, Howard and Ivory. There are also three brothers, William, Aaron and Arthur Sweetser.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at the residence on Lincoln Street. Rev. T. Call will officiate.
Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
