Dearest Mother thou hast left us;
Left for the other shore,
But we must soon follow after;
For thou hast gone before;
How the children will miss you;
When to fathers house they go;
And their hearts will fill with sadness;
And their tears will overflow.
But they must to bear the summons,
and how soon no one can tell,
But we bid you now dear Mother,
Just a little while, "Farewell."
