William was the son of William G. and Juda Ferguson Fear. He was one of twelve children. He married Louisa Ann Brenton on May 14, 1873 in Jasper county, Illinois. Together they had eight children, five sons and three daughters.

Funeral services for William H. Fear, a well-known farmer, were held Wednesday and burial was in Shiloh Cemetery near Willow Hill. He passed away Monday at the age of 80 years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emma Catt, near Hardinsville in Crawford County.
He leaves three sons and three daughters, John Fear and Mrs. Cora Catt of near Willow Hill, Al Fear of Hunt City vicinity, Will Fear and Mrs. Emma Catt of Hardinsville, and Mrs. Lela Roe. His wife died several years ago.
