Sophia (Jackson) Frazee was the daughter of Jacob Jackson and Elizabeth Poling, natives of Maryland and early settlers in what is now Perry County, Ohio. Sophia was one of eleven children: Margaret (Jackson) Miller, Samuel Jackson, Sarah Jackson (d.y.), Elizabeth (Jackson) Ricketts, Sophia (Jackson) Frazee, Joseph Jackson, Mary (Jackson) Frazee, Israel Jackson, Sarah Ann (Jackson) Swiers, Rachel Jackson (d.y.) and John Fletcher Jackson.
These children were raised in Perry Co, Ohio on their parents' farm.

Sophia married Stephen J Frazee, the son of Joshua Frazee and Nancy Reed, the former a native of New Jersey and the latter a native of Pennsylvania. Sophia and Stephen were married in Perry County, Ohio April 15, 1832. They were the parents of twelve children: Elizabeth, Mary Poling, William Penn, Elvira, Rachel, Martha, Margaret, Samuel Jackson, Melinda Ann, Stephen Jacob, Emma J and Henry Bascomb Frazee, raised on farms in Perry, Hocking, Fairfield counties Ohio, and Van Buren County, Iowa.

In 1841 Sophia and Stephen Frazee and their children moved to Van Buren County, Iowa. Also making this move were Sophia's parents and married sisters and families. Stephen and Sophia farmed in Van Buren County in the Kilbourne and Leandro areas. Sophia died one month short of her ninety-first birthday.
