C. James Matz, 75, of 1476 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville, died Tuesday morning in the Hassler Home Inc., Cumru Township, where he had resided since Nov. 11.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William A. and Laura G. (Dauth) Matz. A 26 year Navy Veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War, Matz retired in 1967.
He was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Barto; Gilbertsville Fire Company, Friendship Hook and Ladder Company, Boyertown; Pike Township Sportsmen's Association, and Camp 500, Woodsmen of the World, Bechtelsville.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie M. (Mest) Matz; a son James A., at home; and two brothers, George, York, and John, Phoenix, Ariz.
Also six sisters: Gertrude, wife of James Resch, Reading; Louise, wife of Charles Frederick, Pottstown; Catherine Albright, Stonersville; Florence, wife of Howard Miller, Shillington; Laura Matz, Alexandria, Va.; and Agnes, wife of Warren Hilbert, Warminster.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the L.W. Ott Funeral Home, Boyertown, the Rev. Willis K. Heckler and the Rev. Clyde I. Fry officiating. Burial will be made in Hill Church Union Cemetery, Boyertown R.D. 4
