KELLS - Ernest O. Kells, second son of Ezra C. and Margaret Ann Kells, was born December 13, 1868 in Woodson County, Kans., and passed away Sept. 23, 1966 at the Riggs Nursing Home in Chariton at the age of 97 years, nine months and 10 days.
At an early age he came with his parents to Lucas County, Ia., and grew to manhood on a farm south of Russell.
In early life he accepted the Lord as his Saviour and placed his membership in the Trinity Evangelical Church, later transferring to the Russell Methodist Church.
He made his home with his parents until the death of his aged mother in 1938. "Uncle Ernie" as he was familiarly known, then made his home with his nephew Allen Dixon and two nieces, Mrs. Hazel Bennett and Mrs. Vera Clanin and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers and two sisters. Those who mourn his passing are several nieces and nephews and their families and many friends.
Services were held at the Woodman Funeral Home in Russell Sunday, Sept. 25, 1966 with the Rev. Bob Davis officiating. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
