Laura Weldon was a very dedicated woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She lived in Georgia during her younger years. In 1932 she lost her dear husband,Charlie C. Weldon. He was in a killed when the log truck he was driving turned over. This happened in Willacoochee,Ga. I have had no success in finding where he is buried at there. However, at his death, his beloved wife was left to raise four children on her own. Laura Weldon proved to her Lord and children that she could do anything through Jesus Christ. She took her children to the cotton fields while she picked cotton to support them. She had three daughters: Lessie Mae (Weldon) Brooks, Ruby Louise (Weldon) Rodgers and Lutha Nell (Weldon) (Herring) Decker. She had one son that was just a baby when Henry Merrier died. His name is Kelly B. Weldon. She did a wonderful job in bringing up all four of her children in the House of the Lord. She taught us much wisdom and always taught us all about the Lord. She never dated nor remarried after the death of her husband. She always told me not to be sad when she died, because only her old sinful body would be dead, not her heavenly body. She told me that she would be in heaven waiting for the rest of her family. She now has all three of her daughters with her, plus a few other family members. Those whom are buried in this same cemetary that are related to her are:
David E. Herring Sr. : Son-in-law
David E. Herring Jr. : Grandson
Linda Elaine (Herring) Lamia : Granddaughter
William Allen Brooks : Son-in-law
James Longino : Grandson (in-law)
William A.Decker : Great Grandson
Lessie Mae (Weldon) Brooks : Daughter
Ruby Louise (Weldon) Rodgers : Daughter
Lutha Nell (Weldon) (Herring) Decker : Daughter
Troy F.L. Rodgers: Son-in-law
Henry A. Merrier : Her Father
