Age 55 years, 9 months, 15 days. Son of William H. & Catherine (Goldsberry) Barksdale. Husband of Agnes N. (Cromer) Barksdale.

Carson married Agnes Cromer daughter of Sherid Cromer and Margaret Royse on Aug 26, 1888. They lived on a small farm directly across the road from Horners Chapel.
His daughter Nora Barksdale Lee said he would take her by horse to school, fording the Blue River before there was a bridge. He moved the family into town (Fredericksburg) so all the children could attend school there. She also said he bought an organ which provided many hours of family enjoyment.

Carson Barksdale son of Mr. & Mrs. W.H. Barksdale was born in Harrison County, Indiana Dec 18, 1868 and departed this life September 3, 1921 age 55 years, 9 months, and 15 days.
He was united in marriage to Agnes Cromer, 1884 to which union five children were born, namely Nora Lee, Harley, Rolla, David and Addie Brashear. After the death of his first wife, he was united in marriage to Elva Taylor, June 9, 1907. To this union three children were born namely Faith, Wilbur and Mary Catherine.
Brother Barksdale has been in failing health for a year. On Monday, August 20, he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, Louisville, KY, and after several days treatment he underwent a surgical operation after which he lived only ten minutes. He was a truly devout Christian man and was much devoted to his family. About five years ago he was wonderfully converted in a union revival of the Methodist and Baptist churches of Campbellsburg under the pastorate of Reverends E. Montgomery and Allen Chaplain. He has from that time to his death been true to the faith in Christ Jesus. He has from that time to his death been true to his faith in Christ Jesus. He lived the everyday Christian life and no one doubted his sincerity. At the late camp meeting held in Ramsey he received a wonderful blessing and fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. He said he had never experienced such a blessing before. He had no fear of death and told his wife his only dread was to leave them. He has gone to be with Jesus whom he loved. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and children, two sisters Mary Godby of Illinois and Martha J. Jackson of near Fredericksburg; also two brothers, Lewis and Samuel who reside in Illinois and also eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. Montgomery assisted by Rev. E. McKinney after which the body was laid to rest in the Horner Chapel cemetery.
