Ethel Claiborne Collier, age 98, of Jefferson City, died Friday, January 22, 1999, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born August 2, 1900, in Decaturville, Missouri, a daughter of William F. and Sarah E. Sharp Claiborne.
She was a graduate of Lebanon High School. She was married on December 3, 1924, in Springfield to Harry O. Collier, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1988.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Laramie, Wyoming where she served as choir mother for many years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her two sons, Thomas C. Coller and his wife Caryl of Jefferson City and William C. Collier and his wife Sharon of Cheyenne, Wyoming; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce C. Page on June 10, 1966; and nine brothers and sisters: Homer Claiborne, Allyn Claiborne, Aura Esther, Edith Claiborne, Estelle Claiborne, Eva Claiborne, Terence Claiborne, and twin infants who died at birth.
Funeral services were held January 26, 1999, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home - Jefferson City Chapel, with the Rev. Alvin Lange officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery.
