James John Miles was married to Chloe Isabelle Tarleton about 1810. She was the daughter of Jeremiah and Eleanor( Medley) Tarleton of Scott Co. KY James and Isabelle lived in the Forks of the Elkhorn in Kentucky. The land was deeded to James and Isabelle Miles from Jeremiah and Eleanor Tarleton. At one point the land was taken from the Miles and Jeremiah had it redeeded back to Isabelle and her children. The year 1825 James J. and C. Isabella Miles were dismissed from the Frankfort Presbrytarian Church in Kentucy. An email to the Transylvania College in Lexington brought more information about James J. Miles. He was a student in the Medical Dept. there 1829 -1830-31. So this is where he studied to become a doctor. It is noted that Chloe Isabella Miles might have died in 1832 and James John is remarried to Nancy Thompson by 1840. They have an 8 year old son, Richard A. and they are living in Coles Co. IL and James is now a doctor. A cholera epidemic struck Coles in 1850 and by 1851, James John Miles was a victim of it, along with several of Tarleton C and Sophia Miles' children. They are buried in the City Cemetery along with Nancy Miles Coleman. When visiting the grave of James John Miles, it was noted that the tombstone is broken but the information on the tombstone is not damaged.
