Velma L. Steinbrink
Velma Steinbrink, age 84, former Ellwood resident, died January 29, 1999 at Hastings.

She was born July 12, 1914 near Elwood to Fred & Phoebe Lewis Steinbrink. She was raised on the Steinbrink homeplace north of Elwood and attened Brace school. After the death of her father, she and her mother moved to Elwood in 1942. Velma cared for her mother until she moved to Hastings to be near her sisters. While living in Hastings, she worked as a housekeeper and also at the Good Samaritan Village Nursing Home. After retiring, she made her home at the Good Samaritan Village.

She was a member of the First Christian church in Hastings. She enjoyed dancing and joining her family at reunions and picnics.

Survivors include a brother, Leo and a sister, Elda Burch both of Edwood; sisters-in-law; Delores Steinbrink of Elwood, Frances Steinbrink of Seal Beach, CA, and Lillian Steinbrink of Albany, OR.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters; 4 brothers; and an infant brother.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.

Services were held January 31 at the Christian Church in Elwood with Rev. Richard Markland officiating. Burial was in the Elwood cemetery.

Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad was in charge of arrangements.
