In April 1896 he moved with his family back to his father's hometown of Franklinville, Cattaraugus County, NY for a visit.
From there the family traveled west, settling in Summerland, Santa Barbara County, CA in Jul 1896. By 1900 they had moved to South Pasadena, Los Angeles County, CA.
