Lillian East Parker was born in Alabama to Moses Parker and Mary Brinson. Lila was the sixth of nine children. After the Civil War, Moses and Mary left Georgia on their way to Texas. In 1871 they made their home in Carthage, Panola County, Texas. Three of their children married three Vanderburg siblings. Lila married Joseph Sidney Vanderburg in 1884 and four of their children were born in Carthage, the other three were born in Indian Territory. About 1934 Joseph Sidney built the home of her dreams, but Lila only lived two more years to enjoy it.
