~OBITUARY OF DAN E. ARCHER

Dan E. ARCHER was born July 26, 1916 to Robert and Gertrude ARCHER in Hutchinson County, and passed away on November 01, 1997.

Mr. ARCHER graduated from Spearman High School in 1932 and received his BA from Texas Tech University in 1936. He attended law school at the University of Texas in Austin and graduated from Cumberland Law School in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1939. He returned to UT in Austin to complete his post-graduate work.

Mr. ARCHER returned to Perryton and practiced law in the Texas Panhandle from 1939 with the law firm of Boyer and ARCHER, later with the ARCHER and Brownlee Law Firm and finally ARCHER & ARCHER Law Firm until his retirement.

Mr. ARCHER was the Ochiltree County Attorney in Perryton during his early law career, and was the attorney for the North Plains Electric Cooperative from its inception in 1944 until his retirement in 1996.

Along with being involved in many civic activities, Mr. ARCHER was a charter member of the Perryton Rotary Club. He was an oilman, farmer and rancher until his death.

Dan could sometimes be found tending his cattle, riding horseback and wearing a tie because he had just come from the law office.

He married Opal THOMAS in 1937, and he was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Perryton.

He is survived by his wife, Opal ARCHER; a daughter, Danna Kay ARCHER an attorney of Houston; a son, Scott T. ARCHER, and wife, Shirley of Perryton; six grandchildren: Cathy NELSON-ARCHER of Houston; Nicholas MORGAN-ARCHER of Houston; Scott NELSON-ARCHER of Houston; Joshua NELSON-ARCHER a law student; Daniel Thomas ARCHER and Michael Burns ARCHER of Perryton; two great-grandchildren Alexander and Samuel FRYAR of Houston; one brother Carl M. ARCHER of Spearman, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
