Bodies of 259 War Dead From Texas Arrive in U.S. for Reburial at Home

Arrival at New York aboard the U.S. Army Transport Lawrence Victory of the bodies of 259 Texans for reburial was announced Saturday by the Department of the Army. The Lawrence Victory brought back a total of 5,864 American war dead originally interred in temporary military cemeteries in France.

Charles Patten married Estelle Barkley and they had a daughter, Mattie Lou, whose husband is in the Air Force and they have lived in Spain for three years. Charles Patten was killed in France in 1944 during World War II. He was with Patton's Third Army. Estelle married Olin Chamber, who has since died. She resides in Dalhart.
