SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Durwilla "Dee" Roach Holland, 62, will be held at 1:00 p.m, Monday, February 11, 2002 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Price Harris of Calvary Baptist Church, assisted by Dr. W.D. "Step" Martin of Calvary Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Williamson Cemetery in Gibsland, LA. Funeral home visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.
Mrs. Holland died Friday, February 8, 2002 after a brief illness.
She was a native and resident of Shreveport, LA.
Mrs. Holland has been an accountant with Powell and Steadman Independent Accountants since 1958. She became equal partner in 1994 and majority stockholder in 1995. She dedicated her life to fulfilling the needs of her clients and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell R. Holland; parents, Delbert D. Roach and Helen Jordan Roach; infant son, Christopher Mark Bounds; sisters, Barbara "Sammy" Lattier and Sandra Roach; brother, Max W. "Butch" Roach; special friend and mentor, William J. Powell, Jr.
Survivors include three children, Melanie McBride and husband Nathan "Bubba" McBride of Delhi, LA, Mark Bounds and wife Susan of Epps, LA, and Lillie Anthony Carter of Shreveport, LA; three brothers, Mike Roach of Shreveport, LA, Delbert Fuller of Sarepta, LA, and Gary Roach of Elm Grove, LA; sister, Debbie Shaw of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathan Todd McBride of the U.S. Navy, Timothy McBride and Jessica McBride of Delhi, LA, Alexia Bounds and Zachary Carter of Shreveport, LA; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jason Maness, Ken Lattier, Jeff Roach, Timothy McBride, Benjamin L. "Tony" Anthony, Dennis Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Lattier, Bill Barteet, Johnny Barnes, Edwin Steadman, Larry Kiedrowski, Leon Southern, Jim Watson and George Sanders. ,
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Robert Massengill, Dr. John Bruchhaus and the Nursing Staff on Progressive Care Unit at Christus Schumpert Highland Hospital.
