Funeral services for Joseph Hardy Cole, 57, a livelong resident of Sailes community, who passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, May 24, were held at Cypress Springs Church on Tuesday afternoon, May 26, with interment in the Williamson Cemetery under direction of Conger Funeral Service. The pastor, Rev. James White, of Louisiana College, officiated and adult Bible class composed the members of Cypress Springs choir. Active pallbearers were his nephews, Frank and Ernest Stewart, Joe and Billie Gene Guice, Albert Page, Morell, Cecil, Marvin Glen, Alan, Beynon, and Gus Cole. Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Louisiana Forestry Commission and members of the Brice-Sutton Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Cole Baker of Albany, Ga.; three sons, Joe and Irwin of Sailes and Kenneth of Haynesville; three grandchildren, Gwen and Earl Baker Jr. and Kenneth Cole Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. W.H. Stewart of Tallulah, Mrs. B.A. Page of Shreveport, and Mrs. J.F. Guice of Bossier City; five brothers, Sutton and Pack of Sailes, Dan of Gibsland, Loy of Bossier City, and Aron of Shreveport.
