Charles Orton
Charles Edward Orton, 83, of 34th, died Sunday afternoon in the Dee Hospital. Mr. Orton was born July 30, 1881, North Ogden a son of Joseph and Clara Virtue Barnett Orton. He was married Zina May Chugg in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Twenty -eighth Ward and had served in the North Ogden Ward MIA and as a ward teacher and member of the high priest quorum in the North Ogden and Twenty -eighth wards. In his early life he worked wit the railroad. He farmed in North Ogden until 1926 and later became a barber and operated he Delux Barber and Beauty Shop at 324 24th. He later moved his barber shop to Five Points and North Ogden. Surviving are his widow, three sons and four daughters, Ray M. Orton, Ogden; Marcus J. Orton, North Ogden; Gel L. Orton, Menlo Park, Clif., Mrs. Wildon A. (Lucile) Hales, Mrs. Rowland P. (Clara) Corry, Mrs. Larry O. (Charlene) Wayman, all of Ogden; Mrs. Don C. (Rhea) King; North Ogden; 30 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, Clarence V. Orton, North Ogden, T. Delbert Orton, Blackfoot, Idaho; Mrs. James A. (Virtue) Spackman, North Ogden; Mrs Parley (Ellen) Chambers, Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Ben Lomond LDS Stake Center in North Ogden with Bishop Alex A. Boulton of the Twenty -eighth Ward officiating. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the stake center Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial in North Ogden Cemetery.
