JOSEPH A. MCKENZIE

ZIHLMAN,MARYLAND --- Joseph Alfred McKenzie, 68, of Broken Heart Mine Road, NW, Frostburg, was surrounded by family as he went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.

Born on July 7, 1931, in Garrett County, he was the son of the late Thomas P. and Nellie (Garlitz) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph McKenzie and an infant.

Mr. McKenzie was retired from the warehouse department at the Celanese Fibers Corporation and was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Frostburg Eagles Arie 1273, Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg, and the Big Savage Sportsman's Club.

Surviving are his wife, Carlene (Rush) McKenzie; two sons, Troy McKenzie and wife Barbara, Atlanta, Ga., Randy McKenzie, at home; two daughters, Tracy McKenzie and husband Keith, Finzel, Krista Clark, Zihlman; three granddaughters; one grandson; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; five brothers, David McKenzie, Lafe McKenzie, Regis McKenzie, Roger McKenzie, and Olin McKenzie, all of Garrett County; four sisters, Thelma Iser, Rawlings, Martha Fadley, LaVale, Helen Resh, Grantsville, Ora Keister, Old Frostburg Road; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. William Moody officiating.

Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery, Finzel, Md.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
