His middle name was actually Woodrow, according to family members, and he always went by Woodrow and not Otto.

He was born in Heimdal, ND. He attended schools in Heimdal, Manfred and Nome, ND.

He married Dorothy Aas from Rogers, ND. The couple later divorced. Woodrow moved to Portland, OR and worked in the parks and playground department.

He was the parent of one daughter, Sharon Hope Bergsgaard who was born on 4 Jan 1941. Sharon was married to Fred Alexander.

He moved to Portland, OR in the early 1940's and had been employed with the city for many years. He was also a Standard Oil bulk agent in Maddock from 1946 to 1948.

He was a life member of the Lutheran faith and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the late 1930's.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Sharon) Alexander, California; brother, Randall Bergsgaard of Maddock; sister, Mrs. Don (Agnetta) Buckman of Roseville, MN.
