Mamie V. Keiser

RED LION - Mamie V. (Bailey) Keiser entered into rest after a lengthy illness on Sunday, October, 25, 2009, at 9:40 p.m. at Manor Care Kingston. She was the wife of James C. Keiser, who entered into rest on November 16, 1981.
Born in York County she was the daughter of the late Stewart E. and Amy (Brenneman) Bailey.
She was the owner/operator of the former Keiser General Store in Muddy Creek Forks, a truck driver and Postmaster for 36 years in Muddy Creek Forks and later in Red Lion. She was a member of Guinston Presbyterian Church in Airville since 1946 where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Bible School, member of the Womens Missionary Society and former president of the Jr. Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Womens Aux. of Elizabethtown College, Conservation Society of York Co., National League of Postmasters of U.S., York Hospital Womens Aux. and a Charter member of York Hospital, State Council of Civil Defense, PA Citizens Association for Health and Wealth,; AARP, The Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem and former Queen, and Exxon Travel Club. Mamie was a former Vice President Secretary and Treasurer of PTA of Lower Chanceford Schools; Historical Society of York Co., and the Airville Fire Co. She was a member of White Rose Postal Employees Federal Credit Union, and Past President of former Lower Chanceford School District.
She is survived by two sons, James G. Keiser and Lynette of Brogue, and Stephen K. Keiser and Barbara of Newark, Del.; one daughter, Beth A. (Keiser) Adler of Brogue; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Charles E. Bailey of Glen Rock; two sisters, Treva A. Whorl of Glen Rock and Beatrice Boeckel of York; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stewart M. Bailey.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Guinston Presbyterian Church, 14130 Guinston Forge Road, Airville. Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church with her pastor, the Rev. Daniel R. Moore, officiating. Burial will be in Guinston Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
