GLEN ROCK - Treva A. (Bailey) Whorl, 85, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at York Hospital following a brief illness. She was the husband of Glenn R. Whorl, with whom she celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 29, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion "Potosi" United Methodist Church, 10703 Mt. Zion Road, Glen Rock, with Pastor Larry Parlett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Whorl was born October 2, 1924, in Glen Rock, a daughter of the late Stewart E. and Amy (Brenneman) Bailey Masimore.
She was a beautician for over 69 years, having operated the Treva Whorl Beauty Shoppe at several locations in Glen Rock and York. She was a member of the Mt. Zion "Potosi" United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and served on several committees. She also served as Judge of Elections for Shrewsbury Township for many years and was a long time member of the PA Society of Farm Women Group #18 Hametown, and enjoyed attending Wehrly's Auction.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" A. Spiese and her husband, Stephen of Columbia, and Kathy S. Walker and her husband, Russ of Glen Rock; and two sons, Richard L. Whorl and his wife, the Rev. Suanne Whorl of Harrisburg, and Timothy B. Whorl of Glen Rock; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Boeckel of York; and three brothers, Charles E. Bailey of Glen Rock, Gene Masimore of Cortland, Ohio, and James B. Masimore of York.
