When we remember Papaw, our hearts are made glad by reflecting upon the life that he lived before us. Papaw's favorite pastime was to play dominoes. And he played them well. He always knew how to make the plays that "counted."
In reality, Papaw's whole life was about "counting." He counted as a son who grew up honoring his father and mother; as a brother who had great love and respect for his siblings; as a faithful husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather; as a loyal employee who gave an honest day's work; and as a friend who treated all persons with respect and dignity. He counted when it came to loving his God. And finally, he counted when it came time to die. He faced those last painful, agonizing days with courage. His life counted!
