Children of Bill and Joyce: William Michael, Joyce Ann, John Paul, Christina Jean, David Lee, Barbara Sue, Linda Kay. 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

On December 12, 1944 Bill went into the US Army through the Pittsburgh, Pa processing station. From there going to Indiantown Gap, Pa by train them to Camp Blanding, Florida where he spent 17 weeks for basic training in the Infantry. He was then transferred to the Paratroop Division at Fort Benning, Georgia. Bill came home in August 1945 on leave and after his leave was over it was 6 nights and 7 days going by coal burner train to California, thousands and thousands of soldiers, then two weeks in a boat going to Japan. They slept in bunks with canvas bottoms on the ship. On the way over the water was nice. Bill served almost a year in Japan, on the way back home they were three days in a typhoon. The huge boat would go up on the high waves and you'd swear it wasn't going to stop, the propellers would come out of the water, vibrate and shake and then the boat would fall back into the water. Three days of this. Many got sea sick. October 1946 he came back to the states and was discharged November 24, 1946.

Bill was an over the road truck driver for Womeldorf Trucking for 20 years. He was one of the first Harley-Davidson owners in Clarion County. He was also licensed to pilot small planes and was known for his practical jokes and humor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, asking nothing in return.

Funeral services were held at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem with the Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion Forest Visiting Nurse Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

Interment in the Leatherwood Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.
