HOUSTON - God's angels escorted Ms. Vannie Criddle Gann, 102, to her heavenly home on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007. Maw Gann was born on April 26, 1904, to Jessie Franklin Criddle and Anna Bell Wooten Criddle. She attended Little Brown School House in the Macedonia community. She married Clarence Gunn on Valentine's Day 1926. Their wedding vows were recited in a car on a bridge in Chickasaw County! Thus creating a legacy of unique love and fond remembrance. Ms. Gann was a member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing sacred harp songs and attending all day gatherings of her family and friends. These times were etched in her memory forever and she loved telling her stories of Jesus. Maw Gann had an extraordinary memory her entire life. All who knew here were blessed by knowing her and listening to her songs of "Going Home."

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Parkway Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Chickasaw Memorial Gardens in Houston. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
