Michael Leroy Kelley, 21, of 819 S. East St., Olney, was killed this morning in an automobile accident on Illinois Rt. 15 west of Fairfield. Michael was born in 1946 and passed away in 1968.

A companion, John F. Fawkes, 22, of Claremont was critically injured.

Police have been unable to determine who was driving the car. However, Fawkes is believed to have been the driver since the car was registered to Fawkes.

The accident occurred about 300 yards southwest of the cloverleaf intersection of Routes 15 and 45, west of Fairfield. The car left the highway hit a road sign on the old Rt. 15, went into a ditch embankment and turned over. No other vehicles were involved.

Fawkes was rushed to Fairfield Memorial Hospital but was scheduled to be transferred to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney today.

Mike Kelley graduated from East Richland High School in Olney in the Class of 1964. He had been employed recently as a service station attendant in Olney.

Michael Kelley is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Kelley; a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Judy Frohning; Patrick Kelley, a student at Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Ind. and Danny Kelley at home.
