Vern Alford Penrod 11/29/17 ~ 01/11/07 OGDEN

Vern Alford Penrod, 89, passed away January 11, 2007 in Ogden, Utah.

He was born November 29, 1917 in Liberty, Utah the son of Oliver Allen Penrod and Mary Eliza Knighton Penrod.

He attended Ogden School for the Blind and graduated from Payson High School.

Vern married Idona June Smith, December 8, 1942, they separated in 1978, he married and divorced Francis Allred.

He married Maxine Ruth Dixon December 31, 1996.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

He belonged to the Ogden Association of the Blind, and was a ham radio operator.

Vern was a professional musician for 75 years, entertaining and touching the lives of all who heard his music, from family gatherings to audiences of hundreds.

Most recently he played the piano at McKay Dee Hospital, Golden Hours Senior Center and his sing-along group.

Vern carried on his families love for music.

He enhanced the life of everyone he met and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; sister, Mary Penrod Peterson; daughters, Charlotte Penrod-Pont (Carl), Terrie Lynn Gould (Rodney); grandchildren, Stanley G. Stratton, Jr. (Shanna), Jacob V. VandeMyle, M. Michelle Thode, Jason P. VandeMyle (Anna), Joshua D. Pont, Sarah R. Pont, Kelsie B. Gould; five great-grandchildren and more nieces, nephews and cousins than can be counted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2007, 11:00 a.m. the Lorin Farr 2nd Ward, 7th and Adams.

Friends may call Monday, January 15th from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Goshen Cemetery Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
