The first wife of Jacob, Eva Eliz. Rumple, was the daughter of Johannes and Anna Rumple. Jacob and Eva married in Albany, Berks Co., PA 1785; Eve the mother of Jacob Jr. b. 1786, John b. 1788 and George b. 1790. She is buried in North Carolina 1793 Mt. Carmel, New Gillead Cemetery.

Jacob's second wife Christena Catherine Diehl, married in Cabarrus Co., North Carolina 1794; their children, Peter Franklin b. 1795, Christian b. 1797, Henry b. 1799, Eliza. b. 1800, Adam b. 1805, Christiana b. 1809, and Daniel b. 1813.

Jacob's date of birth is calculated from the inscription on his grave stone 66Y 1M 10D. No known records exist for his place of birth or the names of his parents. (That is why the additional marker placed at his grave leaves "son of" blank).

The Pennsylvania Archives of the Northampton County Militia, list Jacob, a Private, serving under Captains John Horner and Andrew Drapper. Both the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution list him as an American Revolution Patriot. His Patriot numbers are #43749 and #A054224 respectively.
